Beekeeping is the ancient art of harvesting honey but is also a fascinating insight to the insect world namely that of "Apiculture".
Not only will you learn alot about them in their society and structure but will yourself be amazed at how you and your family will get involved with all aspects of Beekeeping.
Before long you will be out harvesting honey and crafting wax candles.
Finding yourself at ease around the bees is one of the most enjoyable feelings. You will then realise they are not out to sting you under normal situations and the art of Beekeeping will teach you how to handle them when manipulating them in the hive.
Even the most revered Beekeepers get stung but it usually our own fault and not the bees.
 
 
 WBC Hive's are the most decorative hive and the hive everyone knows and would draw if asked " What a bee hive looked like" We like them because of our sometimes harsh wet climate as they are double walled which helps the bees stay warm in the winter. They don't mind the cold so much as the wet, they hate it. WBC hives are both functional, decorative and will brighten up any corner of your garden, vegetable patch or orchard. Bringing life to an otherwise dull corner biring nature home.

 We rear and mark our own Queen's looking for strains of bees who are calm to work with and who have very good working ability.  
We are able to supply five frame Nucleus Hives during the month of June once we are happy with them. But there is a seasonal restraint on when bees may be purchased and advance ordering is a sure way of obtaining them.
 
 We stock only the highest quality Protective Clothing, Tools, Frames and Wax available. We carry a large range of products and will supply specialist items if the need arises

Bee Facts
Honey Bees have been around for 30 Million Years.
 
Honey Bees have hair on their eyes.
 
Honey bee colonies can be upward of 60.000 bees.
 
Beeswax is secreted from special glands on the bees abdomen.
 
Nectar is carried in the crop/honey stomach/pouch.
 
The average worker bee will fly approximately 500 mile's before it burns itself out.
 
Egg to Queen is 15 days, Egg to worker is 21 days, Egg to Drone is 24 days.
 
A bee must visit 2 million flowers to make 1Lb of honey and would have to fly 55.000 miles to get it.
 
It is the only insect that produces food eaten by man.
